Ms. Stegmaier

Hello, I'm Ms. Stegmaier. I teach 7th grade Science. This is my 1st year at Merrill, but what a great group of kids. Below are my Policies and Expectations. Classroom Policies and Procedures

Welcome to Science! The following policies and expectations are put in place in order to ensure that all students and myself work to our full potential. If all policies and expectations are adhered to, the class will be a fun, high energy, and productive place to be. This framework is provided to take the guesswork out of what is expected of each and every student in class. I look forward to the following year with a great group of kids!

o You are expected to treat each other, your teacher, any guest, substitutes, and your work with RESPECT! o NO hats or sunglasses are to be worn in class. o No electronics are allowed in the classroom. These items cause great distraction and disrupt the flow of the lesson. If I see or hear one of these items during class, I will take the item and a parent will have to come in to get it back. Remember the respect of the classroom, me, and your classmates. o Participation Points: You will receive 5 points per day for being in class, on time, and prepared. Points will be assigned as follows: o On time and prepared: 5 points o Tardy or Unprepared: 2 points o Absent or Bad Behavior in Class: 0 points ß This includes excused and unexcused absences. There will be extra credit opportunities to make these missed points up. o Grading: Your grade will be calculated on a point system. Points from all sources (Participation- 5 points/day, Homework- 10-20 points each, Class Assignments- ~20 points each, Quizzes- 30-40 points each, Exams- 100 points each, and Projects- 50-100 points each) will be added together at the end of each quarter to calculate the final grade. The grading scale is as follows: A = 90-…% B = 80-89% C = 70-79% D = 60-69% F = 0-59%

o Make Up Work: If you are unexcused, you CANNOT make up any work from the day you missed. NO EXCEPTIONS! This included quizzes, exams, projects, homework due that day, homework assigned that day, and class work. For excused absences, you will be given one day for every day absent to make up the work o Late Work: The work that I assign is due the next class period unless otherwise specified. If the students have used all of their homework passes, they can turn in the work the next class period for 1/2 credit. After that, it cannot be made up. NO EXCEPTIONS! o Materials and Supplies: **1-1” 3-ring binder ** Section Dividers **Notebook Paper **1 Spiral Notebook **Pens/Pencils **1 Box Kleenex **Calculator **1 highlighter **Colored Pencils o Please use only blue or black ink pens or a pencil when doing assignments. Any homework completed using red ink will receive a 0. o Finally, a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn is a must. We are in this journey of learning together, so prepare to work hard, have fun, and enjoy science. These expectations are very fair and straightforward. Please read them over with your parent(s)/guardian(s), sign it, and return it to me at the beginning of the next class period. Students and Parent(s)/Guardian(s), If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance to you, please call me at 303-764-7600 Ext: 14122210, or e-mail me at Amanda_Stegmaier@dpsk12.org. I look forward to working with you this year!
